Merry Meet! I hope this post finds you all well, surviving Summer heat (or Winter cold) and all Mother Earth has been throwing at us lately. This is the first post I’ve written in nearly a year. And I can’t even believe it’s been that long. At my age, time seems to just fly by. Week to week, month to month, season to season, and year to year.
I’ll be honest, I’ve been stewing in my head over what to do with my blog. Should I write again? Take it down? Leave it up but stop writing. I’ve been back and forth over it a lot, but ultimately, I’ve missed writing. However, I felt I needed to change things up too…..then waffled on what that would actually mean. But, as my favorite time of year is coming upon us, the urge to write and see what happens, what words come to the page, what I feel like sharing etc, ….well, I decided to sit down and write a post and see what happens today.
My life has changed a lot in the last two years really. As I’ve adjusted to life without my daughter, not being a full time caretaker, being retired from working, and many small things too, I have been searching for myself. In many ways, I haven’t changed. My Craft, my path has probably been my saving grace. There is no change there other than changes that always occur as I grown and learn along my way. While I miss my Sara every day, I am healing. I remember her in a loving way every day, remember she’s with me, and I am looking forward now. It’s a good thing.
Hubby and I bought an RV camper that sits on a lovely lot, in a lovely treed campground, at Indian Lake, Ohio. For many years, getting away for us was a arduous task. With his new job, he has three day weekends every weekend. Now, we simply shut the door, making sure of course our Roxie kitty will be taken care of, and head to the lake about 90 minutes away. There we truly can relax, being outside, living simply, making new friends, enjoying the lake, the restaurants, new friends. It’s been a really good experience for us.
Despite this, my plans have been to travel some too. This, we have not done yet due to a change in hubby’s job and how much vacation time is available. Both of us have also been dealing with some health issues, mostly bad knees (him) and ankles (me) and also just figuring out if we want to travel via RV or plane etc. My goal for myself though is to visit some of my witchy sisters in their spaces and as this next year comes, I’ll be doing just that!
Mabon is arriving quickly! My coven is strong and we still gather for all the Sabbats. We’ve added a new member and a couple members wandered away in this last year as can happen. This year, again, we will not be gathering for Mabon at my home, but some of us will be attending a Spiritfest at Camp Chesterfield, Indiana on that Saturday. It was an amazing experience last year and I can’t wait to go back.
We have been bringing colored ribbons throughout the year for making a Witch’s belt which we’ve loved doing. Mabon is the last ribbon for the year to complete them. I have made an oil blend as a gift for each Sabbat to each member. During ritual we consecrate our ribbon, then braid it into all the others. We have also had a potion making day and that was fun and popular so we’ll be doing that again. I’m blessed to have such magickal friends in my life.
As my favorite season, Autumn, arrives so very soon, I’ve moved into that mode of getting ready for it. I’m washing up warm fall plaid throws and flannel sheets so they’re ready to pull out, and checking decorations. I’ve purchased a new jacket, and some sweaters and made sure my boots and flannels are in good shape. I’m perusing my Fall cookbooks and of course, I’ll be sharing recipes here. My recipes always seem to be the most popular posts! I hurt my knee pretty badly and am laid up with torn ligaments. That’s given me the excuse to plan, peruse, read, crochet, journal and now, write a blog post.
My plan is to write more and just talk about what I’m doing. To share what I learn along my path. We’ll just have to see what comes along lol. I will say, right now, because the world news is so terrible, I light candles and pray every day for the state of this country, the rainforests burning, the reversals of laws that were protecting our Mother, mass shootings (I live in Dayton) tornadoes (also my area) fires, hurricanes, racism, politics and I could go on and on. I’m sure many of you are also praying hard and doing your part to heal this world.
My advice, get away from Social media and news now and again. I have found a walk in nature, leaning on a tree, listening to pretty music, reading for pleasure, spending quality time with family and friends….all to be so important right now. If you haven’t discovered YouTube videos of ambiance, fireplaces, ASMR, meditations…I highly recommend! Right now I have a lovely Fall ambiance video going with music in the background by Tim Janis. His instrumental music is soothing and beautiful. Look it up…you’ll be glad you did. 🙂
So, I have already found a couple recipes to share and I’ll do that soon. In the meantime, enjoy the last of Summer (or Winter). The wheel ever turns and it turns quickly. Enjoy each season of change. Watch for the signs of the next. Stay safe and I’ll talk to you soon. Oh, if you have any suggestions or just want to say hi, you can comment here or email me at autumnearthsong@yahoo.com. I do like hearing from you!

I may have let out an audible yelp when I saw your blog post in my feed. Since I tend to catch up on blogs at work, this may or may not have garnered some curious looks…
It is so wonderful to see you writing again. I’ve kept following in the hopes that you would, also hoping that at the very least you would leave the blog open for perusal of past posts.
I’ll light a candle for recovery for both you and the husband. Grief is a difficult thing to live with, and very personal, so I won’t say more than that I’m glad that you’re finding your way.
I can’t wait to see more from you and I really look forward to the recipes!
Awe thank you! Your comment made me very happy! I appreciate so much my readers who kept following me and it’s those like you that made me decide to write again. Grief indeed is something we all have to endure and though time helps it never really goes away. Especially when it’s someone we love the most. Thank you for the candles and the support so much. Stay in touch! I’m writing soon!
Good to see you back, I enjoy reading your posts. Every good wish to you and yours. Janelle
