About me.

IMG_1934What can I tell you about me?  I am probably alot like you!  I am 57 and have been married to my high school sweetheart for 36 years.  We have two gorgeous grown daughters.  Sara,  who is physically disabled and lives with us.  Kate is marrried to her high school sweetheart, Matt.  They have given me my beautiful grandchildren, Lily is 6, Charlie is 4 and little Henry is just 2.    They are such joy to me..all of my family is.   I live in Ohio…I’m a stay at home mom..and oh yes..I’m a Witch! That might be where we differ 🙂

Being a witch is a huge part of my life and who I am….I live it everyday. For 17 years now and longer.  I walk with the Goddess.  I observe and celebrate the Moon phases,  the Seasons, the Wheel of the Year.  I love Mother Earth, Her gifts of beauty, Her critters who roam Her and I am respectful of Her as well. I am also the founder of Sisters of the Silver Moon coven where I enjoy a family of sisters who walk the same Path as I.

I practice Magick and Witchcraft..in some way everyday. I work at an altar indoors or out.  I work with crystals, herbs, candles, incense.  I practice divination using tarot, runes, and scrying.  I have learned to look to the Goddess within and find my strength there.   I consider myself eclectic in my path.  I work kitchen, garden, and cottage magick.  I read everything I can get my hands on.  I feel knowledge is empowerment and the more I learn, the more anchored I am in my beliefs.   I am completely Joyful in my Goddess Blessed Path.

You will find me writer for online Pagan publications…the Sunday Stew, Imramma Magazine and Samhain’s Sirens.  I have been the Herbal Witch and the Kitchen Witch both for these publications. My blog is now over 5 years old! I’m grateful for those I met through my blog and my writings.

I have many hobbies and things I love and enjoy doing and I’ll be talking about those things here in my blog. I try to find Joy in my life everyday, live a positive life and spread Love and good energy as much as I can.  Please feel free to leave comments, ask questions etc.  I appreciate everyone who comes to visit!  Blessed Be…..Autumn Earthsong

    Merry Meet, Autumn –
I discovered your site last night as I was looking for ideas for the upcoming Imbolc celebration. I think we have alot in common – I too am in my early 50s and have practiced witchcraft and magick for many years. I have 2 grown sons and a 17 year old daughter still at home. I plan to incorporated many of your wonderful ideas into my celebration next Wednesday. I look forward to exploring your site more!

Good morning! I love your pictures and envy you all your organization! I truly need to clean out my altar. Time to donate some books and restock supplies. I’m looking forward to full moon next week – it will mark the beginning of a 5 day mini-vacation for me and I plan to make the most of it. I plan to search your site for full moon activities that you enjoy – any suggestions?

I found this blog to be so relaxing on this busy Saturday morning. I am 41 single mom of 2 ladies 21 & 15 I am a full time administrative assist. and a full time graduate student.
I must say your blog helped me relax through the assignment I am working on this morning. Thank you, and now I am a believe that procrastinating the proper way can lead you to a path well inviting. Keep up the great writing, pictures and the many treats you most graciously share.
Blessings and have a great weekend.

  9. Wonderful! Nice to see another Witch, my age, and in Ohio!
I obtained my Ohio certification to perform marriages here- obviously pagan and interfaith, and had to become ordained to do so. It makes me very happy and proud to see someone like yourself providing a positive model and uplifting information to those out there seeking the path.
Thanks and keep up the good work!
    jan RavenSpirit

    • Merry Meet Jan….so nice to meet a felllow Ohioan! That is so great you can perform marriages..I would imagine that is so much fun!

    Autumn Earthsong,
I just found your site while googling Beltane. Wish you lived in Santa Rosa ,California!! All that you embrace has called to me for years, and I look forward to receiving your blogs. Blessings, Marcia

    • Hello Marcia! I’m glad you found me too 🙂 Thanks so much for subscribing. I enjoy writing my blog and enjoy getting feedback from readers like you. Santa Rosa ..that sounds like a lovely place to live. Thanks so much for your kind compliment.
      Blessings, Autumn

  12. Passionflower

Thank you for your blog! I also found your website searching for Beltane ideas…I will be getting married the day before, (April 30th), and would like to celebrate both sacred ceremonies in complementary meaningful ways! Any ideas on how to “merge” these two celebrations?

    • Hello Passionflower! Thanks for reading my blog! Not sure about the website..I don’t have one so I’m not sure what you saw 🙂 Congrats on your wedding..and I hope its a beautiful time for you! Humm..ideas to incorporate? Well as you see..Beltane is all about lust, sex, fertility…and handfastings. You could always incorporate a handfasting during the ceremony. Beltane is a fire festival..so maybe lots of candles? I’m sure your wedding night will fit in nicely as well 😉 LOL….You could serve honey cakes or oatmeal cake..May wine and strawberries at your reception! Oh you could have a lot of fun! Let me know what you do!
      Blessings and light, Autumn

  13. Hi! I found ya through Melissa’s meanderings. Although I’m not a witch, I love your blog! Very interesting! We all have to have something we believe in. It’s what makes us all different! Keep your faith!

    • Hi Stephanie..nice to meet you and I thank you for your kind words. I will check out your blog too 🙂 I appreciate people who have open minds too. I value all faith and find that we have more in common then different ususally 🙂
      Blessings,

    Brightest Blessings, Autumn!
I just came across your blog, as I was looking for ideas for Samhain incense. Your blog is not only very insightful, but very adorable. Thank you so much for posting helpful information for other Witches, and also for letting us get to know you!

    Blessed Be! )o(

  15. Brea Wade

    Hello and Merry Meet!
I was curious where you are in Ohio. I am from Ohio too and a daily practicing Witch! You have so much great information on your site…I stumbled upon it while searching on information about Imbolc. I have been studying Wicca for the past 2-1/2 years and I have finally found home. All the pieces just fell together like a puzzle I had been trying to solve for years when I picked up my first book. Now I’m hooked and I too walk with the Goddess every minute of my life. Bright blessings with love and joy to you and your family! Nice to meet you as well…I’m going to book mark your site so I can continue to read up!
    )O(

    • Hello Brea..I am near Dayton! I always love hearing about fellow Ohio Witches 🙂 Where are you? Wonderful to meet you and thank you for stopping by and reading my blog 🙂
      Blessed Imbolc!

      • Brea

I am from Dresden…near Zanesville Ohio. What I was curious about is? Do you ever attend any festivals or do you mentor anyone? I am at a point where I need some like minded people to help me on my path. Someone that has years of experience to give advice. In my area people are VERY close minded so I don’t have anyone to understand my view or to talk to about my path. Any suggestions? You may email me if you like.

      • 🙂 I answered this in your other post Brea!

      • Brea

I am near Zanesville Ohio. I was curious if you mentor anyone or if you could give me advice on some things. The universe is trying to tell me something and I just cannot figure it out. I am a solitary witch but with hope to be around people of like mind. I need some people in my life that share my passion for Paganism/Wicca because there are none in my area-sad to say. Please feel free to email me. Thank you and Blessed Imbolc to you as well!

      • Hello Brea…Zanesville is about 3 hours or so from me I think. You are definitely in the bible belt there I’m sure 🙂 I do NOT mentor anyone other then thru this blog and what I give and receive from my facebook friends. I understand your need to find like-minded people. After many years, I’ really just starting to make some connections in my area myself. I don’t know how far you are from Columbus but there is a very active Pagan community there. I would try to find a local metaphysical (witchy) store and see where that leads you. Also, google pagan groups in cities around you. I found out by doing just that….that there are many pagan meet-ups in my area. They are out there…you just have to look. Don’t know if you have witchy friends on facebook but that of course is another way to find like minded people..even if you never meet with them in person. I have many teachers and many students thru facebook in my life now 🙂 Good luck. Let me know how it goes! Oh..feel free to friend me on facebook of course..and maybe I can help you get connected to some of my friends that may be closer to you…

  16. Brea

Thank you very much! I have been looking on the meetup site and have found some groups. Although I haven’t been able to make the meetups because of they conflict with my schedule. I am so nervous about attending a group…but I’m thinking of seeking out some of those (witchy) shops and see where they lead me. I appreciate your help and I’m going to let the Goddess lead me on my path!

With love and light and many blessings

  17. Autumn,
I’m so happy I found your blog! I have a public health blog which does not usually include my personal perspective, but it does this week. Growing up celebrating the Christian holy days I finally realized this just did not sit well with me and this year decided to celebrate Ostara instead. You can read it here, if you like: http://acroan.com/2012/02/29/unintentional-injuries-and-ostara/. Anyway, I’ve learned many great things from your blog and will return often, as its been difficult finding like-minded people.
    Blessings to you,
    -Amy

  18. Incendia

Love your magickal name! It’s beautiful. You seem to view Wicca in a really beautiful way. I was a little on the weird side even before I became a witch. I kind of feel bad sometimes, because I feel like all of us witches could be viewed as quite stereotypical; most of us, including me, are very hippish and … wheat-germy? Not that that’s a bad thing! It’s just cool to see someone who is like any regular mainstream person, but who also really loves Wica. I know you’re not practicing the craft because you want to be powerful or cool like some Hipsters out there; you’re doing it because you love it. And I respect that.

    • Thank you so much Incendia…. I find Witchcraft/Wicca to be a very beautiful path to be on. It is what you make of it. To me, I see beauty and magick in all things and in every little thing. Everyone finds their own way of practicing the Craft….I try to live it every day, to be authentic to who I am, and yes! I love it! Oh and I have a bit of an inner hippy too 🙂
      Blessings and thank you!

  19. Zelia

    Merry Meet Autumn.
Thank you so much for you wonderful blog! It’s been such a big help to me considering I’m quite new to the path of witchcraft. I don’t know a single other witch in real life so I’m all alone and you have really helpt me. Never stop writing, because you write so interesting.
I wish you the most beautiful springtime!
    Blessed be!

  20. BriarRose

Found your blog while Googling Beltane as well. I am 41, living in CA with my husband and 12 yr old son. I have been studying sporadically for about 3 yrs, mostly the green witchcraft books by Aeomiel. They are good for the basics, but I feel something pulling me more toward the Moon. I enjoy learning about Brigid, as I do have some Irish roots. You mentioned cottage path–can you recommend some good reading? I do wish you peaceful healing as you recover from your surgery. Will be making some oatmeal cookies and your lemonade!

  21. Jennifer

Wow, you are so amazing! =) I think it’s great that you do this with your girls. How cool! I am learning so many things from you and your blog, it has really made a difference in my life, it makes me feel like I am becoming who I was meant to be and who I have been all along just never realized it until meeting you and reading your blog. Thank you Autumn for being a part of my journey. Much love and hugs to you! =)
I too love to read books!

  23. Jessica

Merry Meet!!! I am so excited to have found your blog. As a practicing solitary witch…green, hedge, or garden : ), I have been enjoying my journey and discovering so much. Although, much of my time is spent nurturing Mother Earth, I have found myself searching and seeking out others who share a similar path. Due to your generosity and writing, I have been encouraged to do so. It is with a grateful heart of gratitude that I thank you!

Wishing you the brightest of blessings,
    Jessica

  24. Gillian

I have just come across your website and am astonished to find you have without my knowledge or consent used my image of a cornfield as your greeting card for Lammas 2012 . https://autumnearthsong.com/tag/lammas/
I am the Copyright holder, and you do not have permission to use this image. Please remove it. Thank you.

    • Hello Gillian…are you referring to the small thumbnail pic at the beginning of the post? I have not used it as a greeting card…just as a simple picture I found online. As it has no watermark and was posted publicly online…I used it. Please read my Sources page…I clearly state that as per most people who blog, I get my pictures from the internet. If I can find out who’s pic it is..I give credit or ask permission. I then say that I’m sorry if something I post DOES belong to someone who doesn’t wish to share it. That I will give credit where it’s due if I’m corrected.

I’m very sorry that you are upset that I used it. I will gladly remove it. I would like to ask you, when it’s public on the internet. How do I find the author and whether or not the info is copyrighted??? Thank you

  25. sarah

Merry meet. I too walk the path of the goddess. I’m a solitary witch. I have found a new found pagan. And want to share the winter solstice. Ty so much for the receipes. Blessed Yule 2013

  27. Merry meet, Autumn. I actually stumbled upon your website because I tried to create a blog at autumnearthsong.com, and discovered it was already taken. I love finding people with the same magickal name! I wanted to pop by and say your blog is beautiful and organized. I will be visiting it often. Have a wonderfully blessed day!

    • Hello Cayleigh…I have had this name for over 15 years now 🙂 I bought the domain name some years back. Thank you! Glad you found my blog and that you enjoyed it! You too have a wonderful day! Autumn

  30. Koshii

    Hi Autumn,

I am really enjoying your site and love all the information you have on it. I do have some questions for you about ceremonies that I’d love to ask you about but they are kinda sensitive in nature. I’m kinda new to this side of things as I’m Native American and my husband is Celtic so we have quite a little mix going on. The recipes are awesome as well. I’ll keep reading your blog.

    Koishii aka Gentleraven

    • Thank you so much Koshii! I’m glad you’re enjoying my blog and of course I’d be happy to answer any questions I can 🙂 Just email me. If I can’t answer you..I’ll help you find the answer. Thank you!

      • F Clermont

        Hello there,

Thanks for writing back to me. Sounds like you had a wonderful trip. We live in Canada and we just had a bit of a snowfall but much more is yet to come as it does every year.

Anyways, as you know Samhain just finished on the 31st and my husband is Celtic and I wanted to participate with him but at the time I was having yet another moon time (pre-menopause) and I wasn’t sure if it was okay for me to participate with him. I have only participated in my Native American Ceremonies (Cherokee and Cree) and usually when a woman is on her Moon Time as we call it they can’t participate. Is the same true for Celtic or other Pagan ceremonies too?

Now although my belief system is rooted in the Native American beliefs there is still something missing. As a child I have always been drawn to Magic and other Pagan beliefs. Up until now my husband and I have been blending our different beliefs so we can do our ceremonies together because so many of them are so similar. The biggest difference is that instead of using a Dagger as my husband does I use my Eagle feather instead and I like to smudge myself before doing the ceremony.

I’m finding myself feeling like I’m starting to come into my own if that makes any sense. All of a sudden the trees, the plants, the animals and the fresh air and sunshine and yes even the snow seem to have come alive for me. I can’t explain it but it’s like someone took the sunglasses off. I’ve talked to my Mentor ( I like to call her my Spirit Mom, long story there) but says that I’m more than just Native American and that I am magic. My Spirit name is Gentle Raven. Anyways she said, “why do you think I named you that. You were and always have been more than Cherokee or Cree you are what I call a White Witch.” I’ve done some research and a lot of what she says makes perfect sense. Because there always seemed like something was missing and now everything is starting to become clearer. Is this because of the Change (Menopause)?

I have probably taken up enough of your time but I appreciate reading my rambling and hopefully it all made some sense. I look forward to your reply.

        Gentle Raven aka Koishii

      • Hello Gentle Raven In my opinion, you can certainly take part in any ritual during your time of the month. I feel our bodies are part of the flow of the seasons and the phases of the moon, the tides etc. I would honor it especially as your tides are slowing down if you’re going thru menopause. Look at it that you are even MORE in tune during your Moon time to Nature and embrace it.

If you are starting to attune to nature, to magick, …pay attention to it. Perhaps it was always there and you are just discovering it. It’s not unusual for sure. I know many of my sisters in the craft discovered their Path when they were older and started listening within rather than to all the noise and expectations without. While I don’t believe in White Witch versus any other color Witch in my Path, it may be a title given because of your Native American Path and that’s ok. The reason I don’t feel Witches need titles like White or Dark etc is because I believe Magick is a balance of light and dark..not one or the other. Some have called me a Green Witch because of my work with herbs and Mother Earth and I kind of like that 🙂 I would explore the Craft more, see if it sets well with you. The Craft and Native American mysticism blend very well together. I too follow both Celtic and some Native American as my grandfather was part Cherokee so I’ve always been drawn to it. It’s a wonderful Path. I can recommend books if you like but there is a plethora of them out there, it shouldn’t be hard to find. Thank you for writing and feel free again anytime. Blessings…. Autumn

  31. Seren

    Hello Autumn
I haven’t read through everything yet, but I was wondering if your family is pagan as well? I was happy to find a blog that speaks to family and everyday. Thanks
    Seren

    • Hello Seren. Thank you for reading my blog 🙂 My daughter, Sister and I are all Pagan. I have another daughter who is a Jesus follower and my hubby is Catholic but incredibly supportive and interested in Paganism as well. I also have many friends who are Pagan…including my Tribe who meet at my house for Sabbats and Moon gatherings 🙂 I’m blessed that way indeed.Thank you for stopping by and I hope you come back 🙂 Autumn

  32. Dear Autumn,

I just wanted to tell you your blog has inspired me so much! I have been following for the last few month and love yours posts about the Sabbats especially. Thank you for sharing your beautiful words! You actually inspired me to start my own blog at https://celestialrecognitions.wordpress.com/. Please check it out if you ever have a chance 🙂

    Blessed be 🙂
    Regina

    • I can’t thank you enough Regina for your kind message! It makes me feel good that I can inspire anyone and I so appreciate that you come to read my posts at all 🙂 I have checked out your blog too and it’s wonderful! I’ll be following you too my new friend. Thank you and Blessed Beltane to you!!

      • Thank you Autumn, that means so much to me! I’m so grateful our paths crossed and that we can be friends 🙂 Blessed Beltane!

  33. Amanda

Hello, I’m also from near Dayton. I’ve been interested in Paganism for years, my mom told me I’ve “been witchy” and obsessed with witches since I was about three years old. A friend of mine are interested in expanding our journey and are creating a group (maybe eventually leading into a coven) for other young women looking to explore their beliefs with us. I would love to learn more from you!

    • Hi Amanda…I found your facebook page..and you are my neighbor lol…I live in Kettering 🙂 I love that you’re creating a group. My coven means the world to me. I’d be very happy to meet you anytime. You can find me on facebook or email me at autumnearthsong@yahoo.com anytime 🙂 Nice to meet you neighbor!

  34. I have stumbled into your interesting blog. I’m not quite sure how I managed this. I am intrigued by your beautiful thoughts. “These” things interest me greatly; and I have a collection of most, if not all, of the necessary trappings (from crystal balls to stones). I even have stones and other items that have been owned by a practicing witch. I value them greatly. I’m not sure if it is my age or if there is some mystical stumbling block, but can’t quite get it together mentally enough to actually learn enough to properly practice the craft. An important time of the year is approaching; Maybe now is the time.
    Blessed be.

  35. Hello fellow Ohioan! I love your blog. ‘m not sure if this is the right place to post that I am a freelance proofreader/editor and would like to offer my services to you, or any of your followers who may be in need of this type of service. If so, may I post my web address/business e-mail? Thank you and Blessed Be!

  36. Adam

I live in youngstown area and im interested in these things wondering if you knew of any meetings I could attend? Or help me start a path.

    • Hi Adam! I just googled pagan stores, pagan festivals, etc. in my city. You can also try Witchvox website. Some covens and festivals post there. I would also read anything I can get my hands on to start a Path of the Craft. There are lots of great books and authors! I think there is probably quite a bit of Pagan activity in your area. There are often public meet-ups etc. I don’t know anybody in your area I’m afraid. Sorry I’m not more help.

  37. Hello, Autumn! I just came across your page & signed on to your email list. I’m enjoying your posts, especially the reminders to slow down, observe nature and honor the changing seasons. I look forward to exploring your archives and receiving new posts when you have the time. I write a mystery series featuring a Wiccan protagonist, called the Wiccan Wheel Mysteries, so I’m always looking for elements of real Pagan life to weave into my stories. Thank you for all the inspiration!

    Best wishes,
    Jennifer

    • Hi Jennifer! I’m so sorry it took so long to respond. Life has been a little hectic and I’ve neglected my blog I’m afraid. I’m so thrilled to hear from you! And I have had your books on my reading list for a while after hearing about them from a book page I’m on. I’m very happy to hear you like my blog postings.., means a lot! I admit to going through times my writing wanes… often because I feel I have nothing of interest to talk about that others may enjoy. Comments like yours helps inspire me again . Coming from a true writer it’s pretty awesome. Thank you so much for it. Now I will be getting your books and reading them! Blessings to you! Autumn
