Merry evening friends!  Hope that you all had a very Blessed Ostara.  I know I did.  It was just a simple meal and a simple ritual but meaningful.  Did any of you try any of my recipes?  If you did, please let me know!  I’d love to hear about it.  I made my Dilly egg salad for lunch and it was yummy!

Now Spring?  Yea, in Ohio it’s not here yet! 🙂    We, as many of you, just had a huge Winter snowstorm on March 24-25.  We got about 7 inches here in my neck of the woods.  But I am NOT complaining at all.  I loved it!  It was beautiful and magickal.  Fell for about 36 hours straight.  Here’s a pic of the first morning……

winter snow

Beautiful isn’t it 🙂   I have seen a lot of complaining about Winter being so long, Spring to slow to come etc.  I hear ya! I too can’t wait to lighten up my clothes, work in my garden, get outside!!   But I believe that Mother Earth knows what she needs more then we do and we should let her just do what she needs to do!!  Complaining won’t change it anyway..right?  I say make the most of each day, no matter what the weather and do something fun to enjoy it.  I made sure to collect some snow water and some nice-sized snowballs.  I will love pulling those out in  the heat of the Summer.  They will be great to let the grandkids play with them, take a chunk and let it run down my hot neck, or use it to make a slushy margarita!!  (Thanks Mike for that idea 🙂   To me, everyday is magickal if you look for it….now stop complaining! LOL!!

Spring..it’ll get here.  We already see the snow melting and will be in the 50’s for a couple days this weekend.  In the meantime, I am planning my garden, getting my lighter clothes ready, and perusing my cookbooks for lighter, healthier meals. I can’t wait to put my hands in the dirt and my face to the Sun and my back to a tree 🙂  I know that is what you all are ready for too!  Take heart…it’s coming!!

Through all the frozen winter
My nose has grown most lonely
For lovely, lovely, colored smells
That come in springtime only.

The purple smell of lilacs,
The yellow smell that blows
Across the air of meadows
Where bright forsythia grows.

The tall pink smell of peach trees,
The low white smell of clover,
And everywhere the great green smell
Of grass the whole world over.”

Oh, and Blessed Full Moon to you all!!  May the Goddess shine Her light and energy on you…always!

I am very jealous of your winter! Thanks for sharing so much of it with me. Spring will be here and then summer and we will be complaining about the heat (well I will!)! Thanks for your wonderful blog! Always love it! ❤

    • You are right Sunshine, I’m quite sure we will be grousing about the heat..I sure know I will LOL. After all, Summer, mostly meaning July and August are my least favorite time of the year 🙂
      Love you, Autumn

  4. Autumn, You are such a wonderful magickal woman and I am so happy we are friends. You help me see such different perspectives and I always enjoy them. I have been struggling with SADD and your comments, posts, your Moonlight Path posts, etc. really help me out so much. I am going to collect some snowballs as you have done and bring them out come summer. Great idea!! Keep being you Autumn, the sweetheart that you are. May this note come to you with my heart full of smiles and love for your friendship. Peace, Light, Love!

    • Rita, YOU are such a sweetheart. This post made my day. I’m glad I can be of some help to you as I consider you a good friend and believe me, I know about SADD. My hubby has it and I know how hard it is to stay positive when Winter is long and dark. You hang in there Sister, Spring is soo so close! Collect those snowballs while you can 🙂
      Much Love, Autumn

Happy Spring to you , Autumn! What a lovely picture of the fresh snow. Here in the north the spring snow helps the old snow melt faster, and covers up the ” snirt” ( snow mixed with dirt) for a while as well.
Longer days and watching my seedlings grow tell me it is truly spring, even though the weather may not always be spring like!
The poem you included was lovely. I could smell those blossoms in my mind.

    • Happy Spring Deb! I LOVe “snirt” LOL!! I will be using that word from now on!! We too have the longer days and today is up in the 40’s, breezy and blue skies and I can sure believe that Spring is on the cusp of being here! Enjoy watching your seedlings grow and thank you for commenting on my blog..it means a lot!
      Love and Hugs, Autumn

  6. Happy Spring and a Blessed Ostara to you and your family! I made your Lemon-thyme cake for Ostara, I cut the recipe in half for just two of us and it was wonderful!! I will make it again this weekend for dinner at my brothers house. I live in Va. and we got snow last week also…not as much as you did but still enough to have fun in. I do love my winters! I’m a Massachusetts transplant here in Va I still won’t admit to being a Virginian
after 33 years being here. I love your attitude about the weather. There’s no use in complaining about it. I’ve always held that as my motto also, don’t let the weather change your plans, just deal with it. Make the best of it and enjoy whatever weather is sent your way. I love a good thunderstorm or snow storm or a sunny day they are all beautiful in their own way. Thank you for the time you take to write your posts, I totally enjoy reading them even if I don’t have time to comment all the time. Have a wonderful weekend! lots of hugs, June

    • Hi June! oh that is so awesome! Great idea cutting it in half too! I always love when you come to my blog and comment..feel like I know you 🙂 I think we are kindred spirits 🙂 I believe that Spring is finally springing this weekend 🙂 Yay! But I loved the big snow we had….Winter is a long way away now and that will help hold me over! Happy Spring my friend! Love Autumn

  9. Bright Blessings darling Autumn! I have missed you. Been so wonderfully busy but I think about you often. With Beltane right around the corner we are busy planning a new site for our Maypole (Yoga on the Divide in Georgetown CA – you can find it online – they have one of the largest labyrinths in the country) and getting ready for the Northern California Women’s Herbal Symposium. I know I’ve mentioned this to you before – would love to see you there someday! Anyway, I hope spring has arrived in your neck of the woods. We had rain yesterday but this morning the sun is shining. Love you!
